Day 7 – It’s Hitting The Fan

Numbers wise I am really hoping we are close to peaking but I’m fearful we aren’t there yet. Up 40% from yesterday and we were at close to 9K last time I checked and the deaths are sadly going up a well.

But here we are trying to stay positive! I’m continuing to work hard and as I type this a video is uploading. I’m definitely noticing that’s taking a lot longer than normal and I think it’s because my entire neighborhood is online at the same time. I’m assuming it would be rude to go door to door and ask them to stop sucking up all the bandwidth for my YouTube channel.

Scott and I went for a hike today and I’m super grateful for a great weather day here in North Atlanta. We all needed it and we saw plenty of people out and about but also practicing good social distancing. I think outside is good for all of us right now and I’m super grateful we have so many great trails around us to enjoy.

I am sensing from online comments that some people are getting more and more freaked out while others are trying to find the humor and do the best they can. I am sincerely hoping I can stay in the latter group as they are way more fun. As someone who feels things very deeply, this can be a challenge so I’m singing as many show tunes as possible. I have now almost mastered singing both parts of all Kristen Chenoweth Idina Menzel duets. I know, right?

Read an article that said that Gen Xers are the best prepared to deal with this thing. Something about all the crud we’ve been through (9/11, great recession) and having grown up with the threat of nuclear war. We’re evidently a scrappy bunch who know how to get through the tough times with sarcasm and style (I may have added that last part). Here’s the article if you’re interested: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/18/psychological-reason-why-gen-x-is-taking-covid-19-pandemic-seriously.html

One of my goals for today is to start Glennon Doyle’s new book. Is anybody else reading it? I always love her writing and she typically gives me a great deal of hope. Feels like a timely read.

Off to finish the details on the video, get that published and then make dinner. Chicken, Ina Garten’s roasted potatoes and broccoli. By the way, who are these people who keep saying they have all this time on their hands and are learning instruments and stuff?

Love you,

Jen
