It’s Thursday and we are all home because there’s about 4 inches of snow on the ground! I know that for a lot of you, that’s just normal March weather, but not here in North Texas! And certainly not this much at once. This is our 3rd snow day in the last 2 weeks and it hasn’t been too bad, honestly. Although my grocery bill has been through the roof! 3 teenagers and snow days means LOTS of food consumed over here at Chez Lefforge!
our front yard. Crazy! |
Walter was confused as to why this particular ball kept getting smaller;) |
Hard to believe that just 3 weeks ago, we were at the Zoetry Paraiso De La Bonita in Riviera Maya celebrating our anniversary. Here’s a video I shot from our balcony. Ya know, if you want to spend a minute or two at the beach on this cold day!
On Tuesday, I sat poised and ready at my computer so that I could do early registration for the 2015 Wine and Dine Half Marathon. I had originally planned on skipping this race this year, but then Scott and I got to chatting about how much fun it was last year and what a great weekend getaway it was for us and . . . we are all set!
The early registration sold out in 18 minutes so I’m really glad I cancelled a couple plans that morning to do it right when it opened at 11am my time. Regular registration starts March 17th so good luck to everyone who’s hoping to get in! It shouldn’t sell out as quickly (there are far more spots then what they open up for early registration) but if you have your heart set on going, I would try to be on your computer right when it opens up, credit card at the ready!
If you’re trying to decide if you want to do it, read my race recaps from 2013 and last year!! Also, here’s my one about everything I’ve learned about that particular race weekend. But be forewarned, if you’re already leaning towards it, these will only ensure that you must be there!
I LOVE Wine and Dine Half! |
My training for the GE Irving Half Marathon is coming along, and it’s not too late to register! You can read my recap from the 10K race last year here and my review from their inaugural year here when I did the half.
This week’s training has not been great because of the weather – I’ve been stuck on the treadmill for every workout. Although I really don’t mind the treadmill every once in awhile, there’s been far too much of it as of late and I am REALLY ready to get outside again!! Saturday is looking good for my 12 miler so here’s hoping! Last Saturday’s 10 miles was on the treadmill and it was SUCH a mental challenge to stay on the darn thing! I watched 2 episodes of Gilmore Girls and the first part of Mulan. All those strong women motivated me;).
I hope you’re staying warm and dry today – especially if you’re in one of the many states affected by this winter storm! I’m very grateful for a warm fire and having my kids and puppies by my side. At some point I’m going to have to pry myself off the couch for a run, but I’m also grateful for a treadmill in my bedroom! Our roads are awful and I think even the drive to the gym would be a treacherous proposition.
Happy Running!
We have snow laying outside right now. Everything closed today because of the impending storm but wouldn’t ya know we didn’t get one flake!
I think it’s been a rough winter for just about everyone. It’s still bitterly cold here this morning and the sun is out but there’s still ice and snow. I’m from California! I’m not built for this!
