Run Disney – What’s in My Drop Bag?

Well, it’s almost time, Friends. Just a few more short days. We are all waiting with rapt attention as we wait for . . .

The weather report for Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend.

Wait, what did you think I was talking about?

Yes, it’s that time. Where we Run Disney enthusiasts start to stalk the weather channel and wonder: will it be 70 and humid? 30 with ice? 50 with a wind that makes it feel like 25?

The Half Marathon 2018! YES, it WAS that cold.

And perhaps all on the same weekend?

So how does one plan for such ridiculousness?? Yesterday, on the channel, I discussed at length (sorry I can’t help myself) what I put in my drop bag to be prepared for anything – or at least somewhat prepared for most things?

Here’s the video if you’re so inclined:

Bottom line is you really need to think through what will you need to feel comfortable not only for the weather, but just for being away from your hotel room for many, many hours. The biggest mistake I see people make with Run Disney is underestimating how much time everything takes – from the Expo, to transportation, to the very slow process of getting back to your bus after the finish, things take A LOT of time. If you’re prepared for that, you can be happily surprised when things are more efficient than expected but at the same time, not overly frustrated when they are just as slow as you expected them to be. It’s a win win!

Will you be there marathon weekend or is a Run Disney race on your bucket list?? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!

Magical and happy training and running, Friends!
