So it occurs to me that the whole point of this, The Chicago Marathon, is only 12 weeks away. Are you kidding? Wow. I also took another look at my training plan and it still concerns me that it only has me going up to 16 miles but it’s a tried and true program developed by Jeff Gaudette and I have decided to throw myself in and trust it.
Problem is, I’ve missed several key workouts in the last week. I headed to Disney World with my family and decided not to take time away from them to run. So here we are. I’ve read the dangers of trying to “catch up” on miles in a training plan so I’ve done what I’ve been told – just picking up where I left of. Which means that Saturday or Sunday I am down for 13 miles. Actually, the mileage doesn’t scare me at all it’s the thought of doing it either in the heat (blech and potentially dangerous if the forecast holds – high heat and high humidity) or on the treadmill (where I might die of boredom).
But that’s a problem for another day. I ran 5 miles today and felt really strong and on Tuesday (my 42nd birthday btw) I did a great speed session. So I’m pretty confident it will all come together as it’s supposed to. It will, right?? (wait, I’m supposed to be confident, never mind;).
I think I’ll go find a fun, inspirational video to post. Here’s one:
