Tuesday This and That – Treadmill Review, Ash Wednesday and Lent (weird, right?)

So nothing too exciting to report this week. Well, that’s not entirely true. We had a new member of our family delivered on Friday and she’s fitting in great! Ladies and Gents – I would like to introduce you to our new treadmill, Captain Janeway!

She’s a Horizon T303 and so far she’s a dream. I’m quite enamored with the built in fan and the ipod plug in and it’s quite a bit quieter than our old one. The old one was also a Horizon and lasted us over 10 years so I’m hoping we get that out of this one as well.

And as long as we’re talking about new gear, my friend Stephanie over at Food and Fitness 4 Real recommended these headphones to me and I LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!

I’ve been a yurbuds user for years but like these better AND I love that they’re only $20! I can afford to have 2 pairs at that price (since I never can seem to find them when I’m trying to get out the door for a run and may have used that as a procrastination tactic a time or two. Is it just me?;)

After taking a week off after the Princess Half Weekend, I’m back into training as I’m scheduled to run the GE Irving Half Marathon on April 5th(you can read my review of last year’s race  here). BUT, between you and me, the thought of another 10 mile long run is just pushing me over the edge so I’m actually not convinced I’ll run it. I think my body might be done for the season. But I will wait and see how it goes this Saturday. It is a great race and I love the flat course. And I did PR here last year. Hmmmm . . . wonder what I’ll decide?

In church news, it’s going to be an amazing week. We had pancakes tonight for Shrove Tuesday and I am really looking forward to Ash Wednesday tomorrow. I am “ashing” again and I have to figure out the proper water to ash ratio. This seems like it would be easy. For me, alas, it is NOT. Who knew these things were even an issue? If you don’t know what Ash Wednesday is, here’s a great video I found through that amazing theological tool, Google.

I love entering into the season of Lent. It’s a time to pause and reflect and consider giving up or taking on something to make space to reflect on the price that has been paid for our redemption. And I don’t know about you, but if there’s one thing I need in my life it’s some SPACE! Space to breath, space to pray, space to just stop doing and simply be the child of the Most High God that He created me to be.

I hope this Lenten season finds you feeling God’s love and mercy in your life.

Oh, and Happy Running. And is it weird that we just covered treadmills and ear buds and Ash Wednesday all in one post? I guess not for me:).
