It’s Sunday! And it’s been a full and fun week around here. I’ll try to make this a short post, but wanted to share a few quick things and talk about my training for RnR Savannah half marathon!
But let’s start with our new treadmill! Our Horizon T7 was delivered on Friday and although I haven’t used it yet, because the weather has been THE BEST EVER, I am so glad it’s there and I know she and I will have many happy miles together when it’s cold or dark or raining or hot or icy. I was very impressed with the entire process and if you’re in the market for fitness equipment, cannot recommend Fitness Resource enough. Had a fun Twitter conversation with Horizon, too. Isn’t it fun when a big company reaches out like that? Very impressed.
Here’s my mileage this week:
Tuesday – 4 miles (BEFORE the cooler weather came!)
Thursday – 5 miles
Saturday 8.2 miles
And zero cross training. I know, it was a light week. But my left foot has been acting up (AGAIN) so it was purposeful. I had also intended on doing a second run on Tuesday but I had a deep tissue massage that morning that beat me up a little but it definitely helped. Have you ever had deep tissue massage? It’s great for runners but it’s not a relaxing spa like experience. I love those kind of massages, too, but this kind is work. I’m a huge believer in massage for everybody but can only really justify when I’m in training.
I surprised myself with my pace on Saturday and came in at a 11:41 average. If I ran the half marathon at that pace, I’d finish in 2:33 and I’d be very happy with that.
Part of Thursday and Saturday’s runs I listened to the Run This World Podcast with Nicole DeBoom where she interviews Kara Burns. Her story will bless your socks off. This girl has overcome serious addiction and her story is not to be missed. Please check it out! You won’t be sorry. Crazy inspiration.
I also didn’t swim at all this week and that makes me sad since I love it. Scott was home a lot this week and when he’s here I tend to get derailed a lot. But I guess there are worse problems then having a husband that you want to spend time with! I ordered a swimming cap that should be here today. Really hoping to get up to swimming that full mile by Christmas!
Saturday’s run also started my fundraising for If Girls Ran The World. My team is raising money for Save The Children and if you read the news about Syria this week, and Aleppo specifically, you’ll see why this is so important to me. Please read my post about that from last week and consider giving! Your tax deductible donation WILL make a difference. I still can’t believe I committed to running 100 miles. That should be interesting.
Friday we leave to go see my mommy in Prescott, AZ, and I CANNOT WAIT. It’s been far too long since we’ve been as she’s been coming to see us far more often. There are some gorgeous running paths near her house and I can’t wait to show them to you. Arizona is truly a gorgeous state, especially this time of the year, and I can’t wait to see my family.
Well, I’m posting this and then off to church! Loving our new church home and so grateful to have found a place to worship and to grow. Not sure what our involvement there will look like yet, but we know it’s where we are supposed to be. I hate church shopping so finding our home so easily is a huge answer to prayer! Now if I could just get the kids to go. One step at a time.
I hope your training went well this week! I’d love to hear about it, the good and the bad.
And as always, happy running.
