During this Five day Writing Challenge from SITS Girls, I’ve veered away from the focus of this blog a tad, which has been fun, but TODAY, Amazing Runner Type People, we’re getting back to what started this crazy thing – RUNNING.
The challenge for today was to write about the five senses for fall, and I thought it would be fun to do that from the perspective of a runner so here we go:
Smells – Runners smell better in the fall then they do in the summer. Trust me.
A particularly grand sweaty summer selfie. Be grateful this is not a scratch and sniff photo. |
Sights – Runners can be seen sporting a lot of these in the fall
and also, a lot less of this:
Tastes – Runners taste a lot more in the fall. Because they’re running a lot more. Because every day they wake up and think “wow, what a great day to run”. So they’re really hungry.
I want to eat that cupcake. RIGHT NOW. |
Sounds – Runners make interesting sounds in the fall as they pass each other. Happy little cooing noises that sound something like this – “can you believe this weather?” “Is it a great day for it, or what?” “I wish I could bottle this and pull it out next August!”
wow. That’s ONE HAPPY RUNNER! It must be fall! |
Feel – Runners feel AMAZING in the fall. Perhaps annoyingly so. We will annoy you with our early morning endorphins and you may want to smack us but try not to. Because we’ve also been running a lot more and maybe even cross training because we have so much extra energy, so we can take you out. #kiddingnotkidding
So, in conclusion, in the fall, runners turn into Labrador Retrievers. We are happy, fast, hungry and friendly. Enjoy it while you can. We will be complaining about the cold before you know it.
Happy running.
Jen
Love your take on this last part of the blog challenge. I especially love the last paragraph. Great job.
Thanks, Ila!! It’s been a fun week!!
LoL! These are too funny. Love this. Happy fall! #SITSBlogging
Thanks, Emily! Today’s run felt more like summer but I have faith;)!
Love it! I need to show my husband that anti-chaffing stick! Great post!
Shasta – body glide is a must have!! I use it all the time for runs in the double digits but in the summer, even a 3 miler calls for it. Thanks for reading!
Ha! I love the comparison to golden retrievers, it totally sealed the visual. I am not a runner, yet, and I want to run every day that I get out in this weather. Maybe I will take this post as my final push to get back out there. I’m glad I found you through SITS, I’m adding you to my Bloglovin’. Have a great weekend!
Angela – DO IT! I wasn’t a runner until I was 39! Thanks for reading and for commenting.
I love your post! Love your idea of fall and makes me want to be a runner.
Mary – come one! you can do it! Seriously, I was never athletic as a kid and have been astounded that this running thing has become so dear to me. Thanks for reading!!
love it!
Thanks, Yamilet! And thanks for reading!
