Many of you know how averse I am to promoting things on this blog. I only review products that I actually use and love and even then don’t do that much. I’ve made a few notable exceptions and in fact, it may be time for me to do some product reviews again because I really do find them helpful when other people do them.
So today, my blogger friend, Heather, over at Through Heather’s Looking Glass announced she is giving away a $1000 Target gift card! WHAT THE WHAT?!?! And one of the ways for me to earn an additional entry was to blog about it and then post the URL on her blog in the comment section. Oh, and you can go here to read that post and enter for yourself!
So yeah, this is me doing that.
I really do love Target, recent identity issues not withstanding, and don’t know what I would do without it. It’s five minutes from work so I can easily run over during lunch and I have been in love with this store for literally decades. No lie. And btw, part of the promotion was not sharing how much I love Target. I just really really do. Also, for those of you that go to Disney a lot, the 5% off with your red card applies to Disney gift cards so for years we’ve been stocking up on those before a trip and using them to pay for all our meals. Sort of like our own secret dining discount;). (disclaimer – PAY OFF YOUR BILL EVERY MONTH. No discount is worth paying interest for. Dave Ramsey made me say that;)
In other news, I am feeling much better today. Still not sure if my 8 miler is happening tomorrow so I’m going to give it a try and if I start to feel weak or shaky I will call it. This flu has been weird. The bad fever and chills was literally only 24 hours, but the weakness and exhaustion is lingering. Isn’t it SO INTERESTING to hear about someone’s illness? (insert eye roll)
The Princess half marathon is in THREE WEEKS and I am seriously giddy with anticipation. I don’t know what my problem is as this is my fourth year to run this race and you would think it would be very par for the course by now but I seriously just can’t wait! And speaking off that, look at what came in the mail YESTERDAY! My shirt for the Princess from Raw Threads (to go with my yellow sparkle skirt) and my favorite mag all in the same day? Perfect timing as I was starting to feel a tad bit sorry for myself and this perked me right up! It’s like they knew! Awesome.
BEST MAIL DAY EVER!! |
I’m also excited because I am having conversations with a sweet friend who was recently featured in Runner’s World about doing a guest blog about the organization Black Girls Run which I ADORE. That’s all I’m going to say about that. You’re going to have to wait for the post. So yeah, I may have read about her, thought she was awesome, saw she was from Dallas, stalked her on FB and then made her be my friend. I’m kind of like that. Is that weird?
If you are tackling a new milestone mileage this week, just take deep breaths and break it down a mile at a time. Remember, a ten mile run feels much less daunting if you call it 2, 5 mile runs or 5, 2 mile runs whatever feels more possible. You CAN do it and your body will respond. Stay strong and confident and believe in your training!
Happy Running!
Jen
Jennifer, I don’t think you are weird. 😉 It’s kind of neat that you took the time to reach out to me. I’m looking forward to more conversations with you. 🙂
