Lessons From The Grown-Up Gap Year – Lesson 1, Take Up Space

This first lesson from the Gap Year has been a long time in coming for me.

I have spent a literal lifetime making sure that I don’t inconvenience others. Be it in line at a store, while pumping gas at Costco, or, and this one is big, while exiting an aircraft.

I have trouble taking up the space that I am entitled to.

I have always been hyper-aware of those around me. Are they OK? Are their needs being met? Am I taking up too much of their time/space/energy? Because in my pre-gap year mind, the absolute worse thing I could be was a nuisance.

But that ended during my gap year.

In today’s video, I’m sharing when this lesson hit me in the head HARD and how it has changed how I move through the world. It’s profound, it’s important, and once learned can be the key to opening up your own fulfillment and happiness. Or, at the very least, the key to feeling you deserve to get the answers you need. OK, maybe just the key to taking the time you need to get off the dang airplane.

I hope you enjoy.
