Alas, I’m right here! Just been swamped with work and kids and company and haven’t had a minute to post. I do have big news, though. No, not on the NYC marathon front and not even about the election.
Scott and I have started running together!!
My husband started running around the same time I did but he’s never taken it terribly seriously. He ran the WDW half with me and loved it but has always been way slower than me (and he’s totally OK with that;) so we’ve never actually run TOGETHER. Well, that was 100 pounds ago and now the new, lean mean Scott can keep up with me just fine, thank you very much, so we have done a couple long runs now and I must say I love it! The time just flies by and we enjoy the time together.
Now the only thing has been that he runs intervals (2:1) and I don’t so I’ve been doing that. I actually don’t mind it and even though I finish about 10 minutes later than if I were by myself on a typical run it’s SO WORTH IT! After over 22 years of marriage he’s still the person I enjoy the most in the world and there’s just something about being out together. We don’t chat all that much but I feel very connected to him when we get home. It’s greatness!! And bonus, no guilt for leaving my hubby for 2 hours on a Saturday!
Thankfully our kids are old enough to stay alone or it wouldn’t be possible (I remember the many many years where it wouldn’t have worked). I’m trying to convince him that we should just run the whole WDW marathon together but he’s worried he’ll slow me down (and maybe nag him to go faster than he wants to) so we may just start together and see how it goes.
To those of you that didn’t get to run NYC I am truly sorry. Yes, we all know it was the obvious decision, but it’s still just a bummer. And to all my Northeastern friends who are still waiting in long gas lines and some who still don’t have power – hang in there!!!!! I can’t imagine but we are praying and are for you!!
I’ll try to post more as we get into the final weeks of prep for WDW but here’s the basic plan:
This week – 15 miles
Nov 17 – somewhere between 6 – 10 miles depending on how we’re feeling
Nov 24 – 10 miles (we’ll be on vacation so I don’t think we can fit in more than this)
Dec 1 – 18 miles
Dec 15 – 8 miles
Dec 29 – 20 miles
January 5 – 5 miles
January 12 – WDW MARATHON!! Woohoo!!
Oh, and of course during the week we will do 2 – 3 shorter runs, one for speed, one easy. That part just stays the same so seemed silly and redundant to post:).
As of right now we’re both feeling strong and injury free so if that continues, we should be well trained and ready for our 20th Anniversary Mickey bling!! And a couples weekend in our favorite place. Love it.
