As we know, I’m not accumulating a lot of stuff right now as I’ve entered my decluttering era, but there have been a few things that needed replacing and I’ve found some amazing products that I’m honestly thrilled with! Bonus, most of these would also make great Mother’s Day Gifts and, as I’m typing this, you still have plenty of time to get them before the big day.
The first thing that I desperately needed was a new sun hat. As someone with a history of what my dermatologist calls “suspicious moles”, I have to be very careful about the sun. I like ball caps but find they don’t really provide enough coverage and the sun hat I had been using was looking a little sad. This one, from Wallaroo Hat Company is so cool and breathable, provides great coverage and BONUS it’s super cute! This is the second hat I’ve purchased from this brand and they are very high quality.
As we know, I adore a good cross body and I ALSO adore companies that are female led and give to great causes. My love for all things Tory Burch is no secret and this crossbody is divine. It’s small so be sure you check out the dimensions to be sure it will fit what you need, but for me it’s the perfect size for errands and for vacations when you just want something cute to hold your phone, a card holder and your lip balm. It comes in a couple of colors but of course I went with the navy blue. Yesterday Scott was looking for the car keys and I said “they’re in my navy blue bag” and when he went to the rack where I hang my current rotation he said “um, you’ll need to be more specific.” Whoops. But I love what I love! One of the features of this bag I really adore is that there are two compartments so it can stay super organized.
As I am really working hard to shop my own wardrobe, I picked up exactly one new dress for summer (if you don’t count the one I bought in France which I can’t link because . . you know . ,. France). It’s from Evereve and it’s this adorable tank dress that I think will be perfect for summer travel. It seems to be really high quality and this was my first purchase from this brand so full disclosure I haven’t washed it a lot yet but it looks super cute and I’m optimistic!
The second wardrobe piece I added I loved so much I just ordered 3 more. This Marine Layer striped tshirt. I’ve been wearing it almost non stop since I got it and just ordered it in the white and blue as well. It’s FEATHER light and will be so great for the hot ATL summer. They are also 20% off if you get 3 and trust me, you’ll want three.
I also picked up a new travel item! The new Away Travel Everywhere Tote in (surprise surprise) navy blue. This will be replacing my old tote from them which I love BUT does not have a zipper closure and that’s been a problem on all the trips where I’ve used it both from a security perspective (an open tote is an invitation to a pickpocket) and because more than once it’s fallen over under the seat in front of me on the plane and things have spilled out (NOT COOL). This one is made from the same material as the Everywhere bag but also is stylish enough for me to use as a laptop bag when I work form our local library or coffee shop. And yes, it DOES fit my big 16 in Macbook Pro (which I’ve had trouble fitting in most travel bags). I will be de-stashing my personal item collection soon because my new rule of add a thing get rid of two things is still in place so stay tuned for that on the channel!
I picked up two of these candle warmers for myself. Well, I ordered one and when it came I loved it so much I instantly ordered another one. Real wood bases, they come with an extra lightbulb, and they are working beautifully in my home. In the hot Atlanta summers I don’t necessarily want a flame but do love having a candle going so this is a perfect solution, Also great if you have someone who tends to leave candles lit and can forget to blow them out (guilty). I love that they have a dimmer switch and the glow from the glass is just gorgeous at night.
If you’re buying those as a gift, I’m loving two candle brands right now. Southern Elegance (female owned fantastic company) and my favorite scent from them right now (and the one I’ll be burning all summer long) is Honeysuckle and Jasmine. So fresh and suits the season perfectly!
My other favorite candle right now is from Target from the Magnolia Collection and the scent is Canvas. It’s got a clean scent that’s not too floral or overpowering but still really nice. I’ve also been impressed by the burn time on these candles for the price point.
Lastly, I was recently gifted this amazing travel subscription box from a brand new female owned small business called Travel Well Box. When I got the box I was very impressed with both the presentation and what was inside! It’s such a great gift if you have someone who loves travel (or even for yourself) and you can either order the whole year or just one box at a time. I haven’t decided what I’m sending my own mom yet, but I’m definitely leaning towards those candle warmers with a couple of the candles. I’ve tried to give her useful gifts and not just clutter (she’s Swedish Death Cleaning, too!) and I feel like a nice candle set is the perfect gift.
