So this is just a general update on the state of things as I get ready for the unexpected running of the Wine and Dine Half Marathon coming up in a little over four weeks! I’m stunned and elated that it’s all working out and CANNOT WAIT!! Work has been a tad stressful and it’s like God knew I needed this very fun thing to look forward to or I would loose it! Love my job but some seasons in ministry are crazier than others, and I’m definitely in the midst of crazy!
Did 7.5 miles Saturday and felt awesome. I’ve pretty much decided that although I will certainly do my best, I’m running this race more for fun than for time. I am horrible about not stopping for pictures (well, compared to other Run Disney fanatics not, say, Olympic marathoners whom I don’t believe ever stop for pictures . . . ;). Although it’s at night so maybe they won’t turn out so great but if I tell myself now I’m running for fun, I’ll chill out and enjoy it more. Plus it’s reverse psychology – I tried to run the Disneyland Half for time and ended up with my second slowest half finish ever. So maybe by running for fun I’ll PR? Maybe not;).
I went online and did the FastPass Plus thing which was fun. Who knows if I’ll actually be able to use those FP’s but they will be there if I need them! And I’ve heard it’s easy to change them up on your phone on the fly. I have not had great luck with the My Disney Experience app while I’m in the parks, so we shall see.
With three Saturdays left for a long run before the race (I’ll taper the last one) I’m thinking 8 this weekend, 9 the next and then just one 10. Keep in mind I just ran a half a little over a month ago so I’m not too worried about it. This is why I love doing two half’s so close together! I’m already mostly trained!
No idea what I’m wearing yet. I’m leaning towards Mrs. Incredible but not sure. Need to spend more time obsessing over that. Note to self: schedule time to obsess over outfit for wine and dine . .
The thing I’m most worried about is my stomach! I have my nutrition all figured out when I get up at 2am in Florida to run a race, but running at 10pm is a very different animal! I think the day of (Saturday) I will have a large brunch and then I have an early dinner with friends that night where I will eat VERY light. So what do we have?
1. Survive the busy season at work
2. Finish 3 more long runs strong
3. Obsess over nutrition
4. Figure out what to wear
OK! We’re good! Happy Running!
Jen
Can’t wait!!!
I think that’s obsess over outfit and figure out nutrition. First things first, right? 🙂
EXACTLY!! Definitely a typo;). Priorities and all . . . .
I am hesitant to try night running since I do all my runs in the morning so I understand your concerns over pre-race food for a night race. Go listen to the Mickey Miles Podcast episode with the nutritionist, she mentioned how to fuel for a night race.
I did listen!! Tara was soooo interesting and helpful! I’m going to follow what she said but I’m still nervous about it. Not enough to temper my excitement, though!!
