Gap Year Adventure #3 – Orange Beach, AL

Scotty and I were able to get out of town for a few days to Orange Beach, AL! May is the PERFECT time to visit the beach, in my opinion, because the spring break crowds are gone and the summer crowds haven’t arrived yet. And the weather is fantastic!

We stayed in an amazing one bedroom condo right on the ocean (full disclaimer: it’s owned by a dear friend and although we did pay for our stay, she gave us a wonderful discount!).

Per her recommendation, we ate at Fisher’s, upstairs, and the food was amazing! There are two restaurants in one, with the downstairs being more relaxed and kid friendly, and the upstairs feeling very upscale (and I believe they even have a dress code). We didn’t have reservations so sat at the bar and truly had a lovely experience from beginning to end. Food was EXCELLENT, if pricey, and I just adored it.

We spent the rest of our time walking on the beach, drinking coffee or wine on the gorgeous balcony, and just soaking up the beach life. One thing I will say about Orange Beach: it gets CROWDED. Restaurants frequently have waits out the door and there just always seem to be too many people and not enough good places to eat.

BUT, the remedy to that, in our opinion, is to rent a condo with a full kitchen and stock up on groceries at the Publix! Especially if you’re right on the beach. No reason to leave!!

We hope to go back soon and it was a lovely adventure! Please let me know if you have any questions. I did a YouTube tour of our condo on my channel (btw, have you subscribed to that yet?? I so wish you would! Please and thank you!!). We stayed here and it was amazing! Very clean, comfortable and well equipped and the view! You must watch the video just to see the view!!

I know a lot of you are Orange Beach regulars. Where are your must go spots to eat?? Would love you to comment below. Thanks for coming along on Gap Year Adventure #3! Up next? Well, my son’s graduation, a visit from my amazing mom ALL THE WAY from Arizona, and an unexpected trip to Phoenix! Stay tuned:).

  1. Finally someone like me! Loving the beach at May! I don’t like too much heat and the crowd so is perfect! I will show your blog tonight to my family as a “support person”.
You got a very nice condo! Do you prefer VRBO than AirBNB? If so, why? Thank you for sharing!
