End Of Week One! I Like This Running Coach Thing!

So I talked last week about starting to work with a running coach, and Natalie has been awesome! She’s going to be more of a “virtual coach” which consists of emailing me my training plans, texting me words of amazing encouragement and holding me accountable to the plan, rather than standing on the side of the track holding a clip board and blowing a whistle. Although we were contacted by a major car company and they had us make this video. It was a lot of fun – Natalie’s the blond.

Just kidding. That’s not actually us. But it could be. This is actually a pic of Natalie:

Natalie’s got her own blog here and you should head over there – she doesn’t write about running that often (although she should!), and she’s amazingly humble. She’s doing a great job as my coach and all I have to say after this week is get ready for Rio, baby, because I’ve got my eye on you! (clearly joking – although you may find me in Rio at some point, I will be on a beach with a drink in my hand not running in the Olympics;)

Here was my week:

Monday – 4 miles easy
Tuesday – Track workout – (1 mile warm up, 4 x 400’s with 400 recovery in between, 1 mile cool down)
Wednesday – 4 miles easy
Thursday – rest
Friday – 3 miles with 3, 30 sec pick-ups
Saturday – 8 miles

The track workout was the thing I was the most nervous about but it was so much fun and I was very happy with my time! Yes, the heat is getting to me, and the 8 mile long run this morning was tough. Both because of the humidity and because the last time I ran over 6 miles was April 27th, but it’s done.

On Tuesday, I’m leaving for Disney World for a few days and next week I’m hoping to share some fun pics with you from our trip. It’s just me and the twins (our third annual mom and twins trip!) and I am so excited! IF I run, it will only be once, so I’m taking a break from my training plan. Looking forward to the days off and some great memories with my boys! (oldest and husband have to work and they will be missed!)

For all of you tackling a longer run than you could have ever imagined this week, we’re all in this together! You is fast, you is awesome, you is important! (sorry, slightly altered and stolen from The Help). Happy Running!!

Jen
