I will say, as a country, you can feel people’s what’s the word? Gravitas, maybe? But yet there are so many great stories and so many great people and I feel 100% sure we were get out of this. My hope is that some of the vitriol we’ve been harboring towards “the other” (whatever that means) will settle and we will pull together as a nation because we always have. And the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior, so that’s my story and I’m sticking with it.
Although there are still a few clinging to words like overreaction and hoax, the news out of Italy, and the staggering number of deaths there in one day, has us all quite sobered, or at least we are all acting like we are. By me I don’t mean those of us in this house. Because of Scott’s job we’ve had an inkling of how bad it was going to get for a minute, but I think the rest of the world is catching on.
I posted a video, cleaned out the pantry (for a future video), went for a 30 minute walk on the treadmill (it’s raining again, shocker), and am going to make spaghetti for dinner. I also found my bread maker because that’s one thing that seems to keep running out at the store. So far, no other shortages at our Publix – we’ve even had toilet paper, so the residents of our suburb seem to be acting like normal human beings. I haven’t even attempted Costco because I am not a glutton for punishment!
Wil (age 20) is skipping a party tonight that he was looking forward to but said because he works with a lot of older people he doesn’t want to risk getting them sick. Never been prouder. Flattening the curve requires all of us to have this attitude. And if a week from now I am blogging that I completely over-reacted to this whole thing I will be thrilled beyond belief and you can laugh at me ALL. DAY. LONG.
I am feeling rather 1950’s housewife, although they didn’t have Youtube channels, but the cooking and cleaning and laundry part is actually sort of fun. For now. I have no doubt the novelty will wear off.
Hope you’re well!
