Hi, my name is Jennifer, and I have a luggage purchasing problem (Hi, Jennifer).
My obsession with luggage and carry-on bags specifically can be traced back to . . . as long as I can remember. I drooled over my first piece of Louis Vuitton luggage at the age of 9. I still don’t own it. But now there are so many other fabulous pieces out there, I’m not even sure I would take it if you gave it to me. (narrator: this is NOT true. Jennifer would totally take it if someone gave it to her).
These days, my style is of a more practical nature, and as I begin my year or so of very frequent traveling, I need a good, reliable carry-on that will hold everything I need and still be lightweight enough for me to get into the over-head compartment all by myself (sadly I have no “people” to carry my stuff;).
Today I’ll be giving you short videos on three bags:
- The Eagle Creek 22 in 4 wheel Adventure Bag (The Container Store) $299
- The Eagle Creek 22 in Load Warrior (The Container Store) $239 (currently on sale for $179)
- The TLS Mother Lode Junior Weekender Convertible from Ebags $119 (I got mine on sale and had a coupon so it was only $89)
I love all 3 but one is standing out as my favorite. Cameos by Walter and one of my boys in various videos below. Let’s get started! (disclaimer: I didn’t get any of these bags for free and am receiving nothing for reviewing them:)
Up First: Eagle Creek Adventure, 22 in 4 wheeled Carry-on (cameo by Walter;)
Next up is the 22 inch Load Warrior from Eagle Creek (2 wheeled) (cameo by Matt;)
And finally, the TLS Motherlode Weekender Convertible Junior Backpack!
ACK! Re-watching that, I realize I didn’t even show you guys the actual laptop compartment on this bag! It’s on the back right behind the backpack straps. I also didn’t demonstrate how you can carry it like a regular suitcase using the handle on the side. UGH. Sorry about that. Watch the video on the ebags website – they did a much better job than me!
So yes, the name of the game will be to pack light! I’ll be packing lot of black, wearing the same things multiple times, and finding laundromats or washing things out in the sink of my hotel room. Is that glamorous? Um, NOPE, but when we went to Hawaii for 10 days and all I took was a carry-on, I found it far less stressful than traveling with huge suitcases. Also easier to figure out what to wear each day – after all, I’m seeing new people every day so as long as I don’t stink, they don’t care what I wear:).
Let me know if you have any questions or if you have any of these bags and what YOUR thoughts are! I’m so glad I have you guys to talk to about all this. I think I’m wearing my family out;).
I am obsessed with my Baggalini rolling tote!
I love that bag, too, but it’s not quite big enough to be my only carry on piece. I’m so glad we share a bag problem;).
Oh, god, don’t get me started on my backpack obsession. Danielle gets so annoyed by it.
And whenever I want to get a new one, I spend weeks agonizing over it and repeatedly going over all the specs. Ugh. Now I want a new bag.
There has to be some sort of amazing gifting that is association with this travel bag obsession. I know too many brilliant people that share this same trait!
I have the TLS weekender. It holds a ton! Bad side of that is it can get heavy. But it is great as a backpack or duffle; AND it fits in the overhead compartments!!
BTW, I have watching your videos instead cleaning. Thanks😛
LOL! Well, YOU’RE WELCOME! Yeah, that’s my one worry about it (the heavy part) but I think worth it because of the size and all the organization?? Time will tell, I guess. I’ll do a follow up review once I’ve used it for real (and not just in my guest bedroom:)
