2 weeks later – gearing up for the next one!!

Run Disney posted this video showing the new course for the WDW Marathon in January. Scott and I watched it together and it got us both very excited!!

2 weeks after Chicago I am ready to get back at it – a virus took me down for a few days but tomorrow morning I’ll be returning to a pre-marathon training schedule. It’s a little odd having 3 months in between and I’m not entirely sure how it will roll yet – I will tell you I’m only doing 1 18 – 20 miler and most likely only 2 other super long runs and it will have to be good enough. I love to run and I want to keep it that way – training too much in between is bound to create some issues on that front.

I still want to figure out the strength training piece. I suppose it may sound like an excuse but there truly are only so many hours in a day and the fact that I can get a run in at all in the midst of the boys and the often single-mom life of the home of an airline pilot means that I may NEVER get the strength training in that I want. But my boys and my job are worth the sacrifice (as is my sleep and down time) so I’ll continue to fight the battle for balance and hope for the best. And no, there may never be a BQ time in my future – that’s really OK.

My friend, Bryan, is running the NYC Marathon in a couple of weeks and I am very excited for him!! He keeps telling me it’s a must do race but honestly it just seems like a hassle to me – maybe somebody can convince me otherwise. But one of the things I truly loved about Chicago was how relatively easy it was to get to the start and then from the finish back to our hotel. I know it was a huge race but it didn’t FEEL huge.

This pic is from the day after the marathon last year. (and yes, I was blessed to do the American Idol Experience and it was SO STINKING FUN!! I had a joy headache all weekend) Scott is about 80 pounds heavier in this picture than he is now, and he promises that once he’s completed the marathon, he’ll post here about his journey and 100 pound weight loss. He’s my hero and I’m so proud of him!!

Disney really is an amazing place to run and it looks like this year, with all the 20th Anniversary special stuff, is going to be a don’t miss occasion. My favorite place in the world, with my favorite man and doing one of my favorite things? Yes, please!!!!!!
