I am dedicating this post to all the REAL WOMEN I move with. Love you girls more than I can say!! So glad you’re not perfect;).
Skirt Sports is launching a new campaign. It’s called #REALwomenmove. And here’s the mission statement:
We’re in a weird time right now. We are more overweight and unhealthy than we’ve ever been. And yet, at the same time, there is more body shaming, airbrushing and filtering of every image out there. So what gives?
I wonder if, maybe, we have set such an unrealistic idea of what being fit looks like that many of us think fitness just isn’t FOR us. Or maybe we just think that everyone out there moving, on the trails and in the gyms, is a size 4 and we won’t fit in.
I once met a woman who told me she did all her running on a treadmill in her windowless basement because she was embarrassed about how heavy she was and didn’t want to be seen running in public.
So she ran in a dark, windowless room instead of outside in the beautiful sunshine.
I’m not OK with that. Are you?
For me, the Real Women Move campaign is about empowering ALL women to become more healthy in their minds, their bodies, and their spirits! I honestly could care less if you can get into that dress you wore 5 years ago or if you’re at your “goal weight”. I just want us to move – all of us – and I want us to cheer each other on and support one another on the journey to being more human. Less fearful. And more who we were meant to be.
Because honestly? I don’t have the energy for perfect. I only have the energy for real.
And REAL women . . .MOVE.
Join me as together we encourage each other! Post pictures of yourself moving on all the things and use the hashtag #REALwomenmove. For every 5000 times that hashtag is used, Skirt Sports will donate a “get started” kit to a woman who needs it. More on how you can nominate a woman to receive her “get started” kit coming soon, but it will include everything she needs to get out there and start moving and look good doing it!
Because if we are all open about who we are, maybe that woman can get off her treadmill in her basement and run in the sunlight. And maybe we can move with her. And then she won’t be alone.
Happy running!!
Love your perspective and pics!! #REALwomenmove
