Walt Disney World Marathon Training Week 8!!

Week 8 was mostly very successful.

After unexpectedly running a half marathon last week, I was more sore than I expected, so I took it pretty easy during the week. Got in most of my mileage but not all. We are getting into the weeks of marathon training that can be TOUGH. And I have to admit, even I am getting a little sick of all the running!

But to keep me motivated, there’s a little thing called the Wine and Dine Half Marathon at Disney (you can read about last year’s experience here) that I’m leaving for on Friday and that should help. It’s forecast to be a little chilly so this is what I’m planning on wearing, but may need to add my black arm warmers. The skirt is from Tough Girl Tutu’s and the shirt is from Raw Threads. I’ll be doing a review and a giveaway of a Tough Girl Tutu soon! I’m so excited!!

I realize it’s not a costume, but I’m completely in love with it!!!! Will be wearing my black arm warmers and my capris.

In the meantime, here’s how the week went:

Sunday – one hour cross training. Scott and I went for our Sunday 4 mile walk and it was awesome. Hoping we can make this a habit!

Monday – Rest day. Yup, nailed it AGAIN.

Tuesday – 4 miles easy. I only walked today as my calves were tight and I was pretty tired. But got 3 miles in, and mileage is mileage, right?

Wednesday – 7 miles, regular pace. I did this but didn’t use any technology and it was LOVELY. I’m at that point in the training cycle where this can start to feel like work – just running by feel and enjoying a gorgeous day was just what I needed to get my running mojo back!

Thursday – 4 miles, regular pace. Only did 3 as that’s all the time I had. But it was an AWESOME 3 miles.

Friday – rest day. Did pretty good;).

Saturday – 15 miles!! Almost didn’t do it as I figured a half marathon last week and a half marathon next week was enough, but due to the unlivable weather I went ahead and did the whole distance. Loved it. Seriously. My only complaint is I wore my thin socks and my feet were bothering me just slightly the last 2 miles or so. Seriously great run.

Overall, a great training week! The warm weather is officially behind us and all my runs should be cool from here on out.

I seriously CANNOT WAIT for next weekend. We’ve got a lot going on over here and I am oh so ready for a break. I also can’t wait to tell you all about it when I get back!!

Hope your training and running and life/health balance went great this week!

Jen
