Wow, it’s been a minute since I’ve updated the blog and it feels good to be writing again! I’m loving the storytelling I’m doing on YouTube, but writing is my first love and it gives me a lot of life. Feels good to have that muscle memory kick in.
Today on the channel, I’m announcing our VERY last minute Disney World trip with just Will (18) and myself and I am SO EXCITED!! Now, granted, there is a little tropical storm forming that may affect things, but you know what?? It’s all part of the adventure!
The craziest thing is that we get back from Disney on Sunday and then I leave for Paris the following Wednesday – SO CRAZY. But this is what the Gap Year was all about, right?? Being spontaneous and living my best life!
I started getting antsy last week about not having a regular job. I went to lunch with my dear husband who spoke some serious truth to me:
You said you would do this until January. Take this time. You really don’t need to go back to a regular 40 hour a week job ever, but if that’s what you want at least wait until January to even think about it.
That was exactly what I needed from him. I have always “produced”, and not contributing financially weighs on me. I needed the other provider here to say “no, you do this. It’s good. Don’t quit.”
Yes, I still check Linkedin regularly. Because I miss the routine of a “normal” job and the team environment, but I like MUCH MORE the freedom of making my own schedule and taking time when and where I want without having to get approval from anyone. I’ve started chatting regularly with a small group of fellow YouTube creators, and that is helping with some of the community piece that I always loved about work. And I am finally making a little bit of money on YouTube that’s at least funding my adventures, so that part is helping.
Paris is all but planned and I’m OVER THE MOON excited about that. It will be a brave step for me – not going to put a lot of details here but be watching the channel because I will do a video about the planning process that will go up on the day I’m returning. There was a lot to that! Traveling by myself meant I really wanted to be organized – there’s nobody else to ask if I can’t find the room key or the address of the hotel or my flight confirmation.
And then, just a few days after Paris, I’m headed to Gatlinburg, TN, to officiate a wedding for some dear friends. So basically, the second half of September is going to be a little nuts. I’ll try to update here but if I don’t, please come see me on YouTube or twitter or instagram or FB.
Love you all – talk to you soon.
